Originally from Ciales, Puerto Rico, Jowy J. Santiago Miranda is a director and cinematographer who studied theater at the Barceloneta School of Fine Arts. Santiago holds a bachelor's degree in Digital Cinematography, has completed multiple advanced workshops in this field, and is the founder of the production company Super 8 Films LLC. As a cinematographer, he received an award for best cinematography at the 2024 European Film Festival, including other awards at various international festivals for his work, which traveled to the 41st edition of the Chicago Latino Film Festival with “The Shadow Of The Witness". Jowy Joel has worked on commercials for Bravada Vodka, Seguros Múltiples, and El Parque de las Ciencias, among others. He also photographed the documentary Life On and Beyond Earth for the Eco Exploratorio. His ongoing collaboration with Los Pleneros de la Cresta and various folkloric groups, that promote culture, is notable. An enthusiast of philosophy and sociology, he aspires to sow a seed in Puerto Rican film culture, to value local cinema and art, and to make it flourish.
